Introduction
As part of our Celebrate Life series, we meet with people who have a special gift for noticing the beauty in everyday moments. Sonia West is a designer at heart, a traveler, a mother, and someone who knows how to truly appreciate the present. In this interview, she shares how Ibiza became part of her DNA, why her daily commute turned into a meditation, and how music can transport us to memories we thought were long forgotten.

1. The “Here and Now” Moment
Q: When was the last time you felt completely immersed in the present moment?
Sonia:
Just last week, I took my daughter shopping for a gift for her baby brother’s first birthday. We stopped for a little break—coffee for me, a babyccino for her, and a chocolate muffin to share. Suddenly, with a chocolate-covered smile, she lifted her tiny cup and said, “Cheers, Mama.” We clinked cups, and I had tears in my eyes. It was such a small moment, but in it, I felt everything—the realization that I already have everything I ever wished for.

2. Personal “Secret” Joys
Q: Do you have a ritual or habit that always lifts your mood?
Sonia:
Being a mother of two and a working professional, I often feel like a living playground for my kids from morning to night. That’s why my commute has become a form of meditation. Alone in the car, with a cup of coffee and my favorite podcast or music, I find a space for reflection and calm. It may not be a traditional meditation, but this is how I regain balance and recharge for the day ahead.

3. Anchor of Positivity
Q: Is there a place or object that gives you energy, even on tough days?
Sonia:
Ibiza has always been a part of me. I first went there with friends when I was 16, and later spent five incredible summers working there. In many ways, that’s where I “grew up.” Now, I return every summer—but with my family. The island remains my symbol of freedom and reset. I especially love Ibiza’s spiritual side and never skip a visit to the magical Es Vedra to watch the sunset. Our home reflects the aesthetics of the Balearic Islands in many ways—this style has become part of my story.

4. Small Victories
Q: What does a “small victory” mean to you? Can you share a recent example?
Sonia:
When we first started designing our home, I thought it was just about creating a cozy space. But over time, I discovered a passion for design—and a talent I never knew I had. Seeing the excitement in our guests’ eyes and receiving praise from industry professionals has been incredibly inspiring.
But my biggest victories are my children. Watching my daughter grow into a bold, independent, and charismatic little girl, and seeing my son reveal his sunny personality—this is the greatest affirmation that I’m doing my best as a mother.

5. Current Inspiration
Q: What inspires you right now?
Sonia:
I’m fully immersed in the world of interiors—antique ceramic vases, objects with history, natural materials that create a sense of warmth and harmony.
And of course, music. I married a musician, and perhaps that wasn’t a coincidence—I’ve always felt that music affects not just the ears, but the soul. It has the power to bring back forgotten memories and transport us to completely different states of mind. Anything that awakens emotions—that’s my inspiration.

6. Celebrate Life
Q: What does “celebrating life” mean to you?
Sonia:
For me, it all starts with gratitude. Without it, true joy is impossible. And of course, it’s about appreciating the simple things—a walk on the beach, a good book, a glass of wine in the middle of the week without feeling guilty.
