Introduction
As part of our Celebrate Life series, we talk to people who find beauty and joy even in the most ordinary things. Our guest today is Sharon Drugan. She believes that a simple morning coffee can become a mindfulness ritual, and a walk on the beach can reset your thoughts and bring back a sense of freedom. In this interview, Sharon shares her “magic hour” before dawn, the symbols that support her during tough times, and what Celebrate Life means to her personally.
Interview (Q&A)
1. The “Here and Now” Moment
Question: When was the last time you felt completely immersed in the present moment?
Sharon Drugan:
At a Coldplay concert. I was among 50,000 people and felt overwhelming gratitude. The energy was incredible, and it reminded me of how music truly unites us and makes us feel alive!
2. Personal “Secret” Joys
Question: Do you have a small ritual or habit that always lifts your mood?
Sharon Drugan:
I love waking up before sunrise during what I call my “magic hour.” It’s a quiet time when the world is still. I start with gratitude, journal, enjoy my coffee, and visualize my day while watching the sunrise. It’s my special time just for me.
3. Positive Anchor
Question: Do you have an item, place, or accessory that gives you energy or makes you smile, even on difficult days?
Sharon Drugan:
I have a sun tattoo on my arm that serves as my positive anchor. When I look at it, I remember that the sun will rise again, and tomorrow is a new day.
4. A Cinematic Scene
Question: If there were one must-have scene in a short film about your life, what would it be?
Sharon Drugan:
Walking along my favorite beach in Greece, watching the sunset with a cocktail in hand. The waves touch my feet, and I feel immense gratitude and pride in myself. That moment represents my ability to appreciate life and my resilience, reminding me that there are many beautiful moments ahead.
5. Small Victories
Question: What does a “small victory” mean to you? Can you share a recent one that brought you joy or pride?
Sharon Drugan:
A small victory for me is something that makes me feel good. Recently, I stayed home for a week and completed a task I had been putting off for two months. That felt like a big accomplishment!
6. Inspiration Right Now
Question: What inspires you most at this moment in life?
Sharon Drugan:
Music always inspires me—I can’t live without it! Especially live music; its incredible energy makes me feel happy and uplifted.
7. Finding Joy in Difficult Times
Question: Was there a time when things didn’t go as planned, but you found a way to stay positive?
Sharon Drugan:
The sea and the sun are my positive anchors. Two years ago, I hit rock bottom, feeling completely lost, as if I were living someone else’s life. During that difficult time, I embarked on a deep journey of self-development and spiritual healing.
One of the most significant practices for me was walking along the beach several times a week—with music or podcasts. These walks felt like a rebirth. The beach became my sacred space where I cleared my mind, sought inspiration, released emotions, and found answers. Walking barefoot on the sand, feeling the sun on my face, fills me with energy and helps me cope with anything.
8. A Message of Joy
Question: What would you say to someone who has forgotten how to notice the little joys in life?
Sharon Drugan:
I once came across a quote: “Glimmer is a fleeting moment of light, a spark of hope that warms your heart, reminding you that joy can be found in the simplest things.”
This quote helped me rediscover joy in my own life, and I hope it will help you too.
9. Celebrate Life
Question: What does “celebrating life” mean to you personally?
Sharon Drugan:
To me, celebrating life means feeling that being alive is a celebration in itself, especially considering the state of the world. It’s about appreciating the small things: a stunning sunset, a cup of tea that feels like a hug after a long day, laughing to tears with my son over something funny, hugging my best friend and her kids, and dancing in the kitchen with my dogs. I’m endlessly grateful for the chance to wake up each day to experience these moments.

Sharon shared a few questions you can ask yourself or discuss with friends:
